McGowan will lead the Chargers newest program into play that starts in the spring of 2016, following his most recent stint as assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Birmingham-Southern.
Prior to his time at Birmingham-Southern, McGowan assisted the Transylvania University men’s lacrosse team and was the first assistant coach in the program’s history. He helped guide Transylvania to a 16-12 record in two years and assisted a defense that averaged 8.9 goals against per game, along with holding responsibilities as Intramurals Director.
Before transitioning to Transylvania, McGowan made his first collegiate coaching stop at Birmingham-Southern as an assistant in the 2011-12 campaign, and aided the program to its first conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance.
McGowan graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2009 with a bachelor of arts after a four-year career on the lacrosse team, where he made the NCAA tournament each year.
